With Winter Just around the corner I thought this might be a good Topic to touch on a bit. Some People may say, How can anyone have such a thing when you live in Arizona? I say you can have SAD any where. We live where it is hot yes but we still have a winter season and this is a very real issue for some.

SAD a type of depression that is affecting about 2 million people or more around the world, SAD is a condition that is more common in women than men and it is most likely to develop between the ages of 18 to 35; SAD tends to start When you notice nature changing and getting ready for the winter. This is because the sunlight exposure becomes less and less, SAD usually is at its peak in the winter months, The Amazingly great part is, SAD starts to improve as it gets closer to spring, as the days become longer and the earth starts to bloom and you see flowers and green emerging from the icy cold. There are two main symptoms you should look for, these are low mood (seems to be depressed more) and a lack of interest in life (not wanting to get out and be around people like they usually do). There are other symptoms, some of these may include feelings of irritability, low self-esteem, indecisiveness, tearfulness, tiredness, lack of concentration just to name a few.

Since the exact causes of SAD are not truly understood, Experts believe that when the days get shorter and you have a lack of sunlight it is thought to affect production of the hormones melatonin and serotonin as well as the body’s internal clock,

If you believe you or someone you love and care about may have SAD please contact a Doctor to make sure that is what is going on.
